A New CEO and a Strategic Plan 2020-2023 for CaSA

A New CEO and a Strategic Plan 2020-2023 for CaSA

Having spent the last 5 years designing and demonstrating their advanced residential electrical demand-response technology, Martin Fassier and Patrick Pépin, cofounders of CaSA Connected Appliances Ltd, are proud to introduce their new Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Catherine Chicoine.

“Catherine has been CaSA’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the better part of its existence. As CaSA begins the commercialization effort of its technology, it was the logical choice to have Catherine pilot us through this new phase. This opens a great opportunity for Patrick and me to get involved on a personal level with the mandates entrusted to CaSA from coast to coast”, explains Mr. Fassier who steps down as CEO to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer.

With more than 20 years of business accounting experience, Ms. Chicoine has a marked expertise in finance as well as extensive knowledge in management, strategic development and communications. She is also well known for her passion for technology and her desire to be an artisan of change in a world that needs it now more than ever. Her first order of business in this new challenge is to introduce CaSA’s Strategic Plan for 2020-2023, which is based on the feedback from associates, staff, collaborators, clients and shareholders. The plan articulates a new and innovative path to leverage the company’s vision: to become the benchmark in residential electricity demand management through the magic of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), deploying and expanding CaSA’s patented technologies throughout the grid operators in North America and Europe.

“This new plan is a way for us to get off the beaten path and rebuild our frontiers, to promote the integration of DR-as-a-service to grid operators and to create strategic alliances while creating opportunities in a market that’s defining itself everyday”, adds the new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Martin Fassier of CaSA and Mr. Louis-Philippe Proulx of the Natural Resources Canada’s CanmetENERGY research centre in Varennes.

For four years, Natural Resources Canada’s CanmetENERGY research centre in Varennes has been using Quebec-based company CaSA’s products and services to develop, test and demonstrate clean energy solutions in real-world conditions. As part of this project, CaSA will now integrate a new artificial intelligence agent, currently under development by the CanmetENERGY team, into its control system infrastructure.

“By integrating an artificial intelligence agent into our systems, we will be able to collect and centralize the data needed to generate proven electricity demand management strategies. These strategies will then be passed on to electrical grid operators who will be able to precisely modulate the demand for electricity, according to its availability,” says Martin Fassier, founder and CEO of CaSA.

Recognized as a leader in revolutionizing the way electricity is distributed and consumed in North America, CaSA sees this new initiative as a logical continuation of the research initiatives undertaken since its founding in 2014. Through the years, the company has also collaborated with various universities, research laboratories and industry experts to find the “perfect” balance between user comfort and grid performance.

The Natural Resources Canada’s CanmetENERGY research centre in Varennes has more than 100 employees working on the design and deployment of clean energy solutions that will produce and use energy in the most effective and efficient manner. The purpose of the development of artificial intelligence is to validate and improve the accuracy of decisions based on various data collected on demand and power delivery. With this information, the research team intends to help direct actions that will have to be taken to modulate the use of electricity across the country in order to reduce greenhouse gases.

MNUBO to provide CaSA with on-demand analytics in new partnership

MNUBO to provide CaSA with on-demand analytics in new partnership

CaSA, a company reinventing the concept of responsible energy management has partnered with mnubo, the leading Internet of Things (IoT) Data Analytics company, to deliver real-time actionable insights to thousands of smart home customers and service providers.

Through this partnership, mnubo’s IoT analytics platform integrates with CaSA’s connected appliances and smart applications, providing actionable intelligence for optimized energy consumption. There is a tremendous amount of energy stored in residential appliances, which CaSA recognizes, can be used to offset peak demand on the electric grid. In fact, Natural Resources Canada has shown that the size of Province of Quebec’s winter peak demand for two hours, estimated at 39 GW/85 GWh, is the equivalent to the space and water heating in all of Canada. Putting this partnership in practice, residential customers can reduce their electricity bill, without compromising comfort and safety, while utility providers can better anticipate costly energy demand bursts during peak-period use. “mnubo’s IoT analytics is an out-of-the-box solution that can be deployed rapidly, enabling our team to focus on the most strategic aspects of CaSA’s solutions,” explains Martin Fassier, Product Director at CaSA. “Not only are we getting the peace of mind of a platform that can scale to millions of appliances, but it also gives us access to advanced data science and machine learning capabilities”. “We are extremely excited to be working with CaSA’s team in enabling efficient Energy Demand Response systems. CaSA’s Caleo thermostats and water heater controllers are unique products that generate an impressive amount of data. It’s a privilege to bring our expertise to such a key sector” stated Frederic Bastien, CEO of mnubo
